I trained pre-professionally in classical ballet, went to college (Georgetown), pursed an MBA (Booth) and became an investment banker in NYC for ~10 years to prove myself in the ‘real’ world. During that time, on trips to both Tokyo and Warsaw, I observed face massage as a regular self-care practice across both - otherwise very different - cultures. I couldn’t find a same level of face massage in the US, so I trained in techniques I could do on myself. My skin, which had become rougher in my twenties, became softer, more supple, and my wrinkle lines decreased. Perhaps most of all, the feeling of confidence and empowerment it evoked in me was noticeable to all around me. It was from this place that my brand was born.
I teach self-applied face massage techniques because I want to empower individuals in their own beauty, rather than always relying (and spending so much money) on others. My techniques can be practiced anytime and can easily be fit into even the busiest schedule. I offer my workshops in workspaces because as a professional and a mother, I know what it’s like to juggle the demands of modern living.
I am passionate about supporting women in business because of my own experience. After ten years at an investment bank I came out feeling it’s still a man’s world out there, despite a lot of progress. I think there is so much that companies can do to support women. My workshops are about face massage, but they are about so much more. They are about looking in the mirror to recognize how beautiful you are — naturally and without a filter—- and drawing confidence and power from that. Research shows that ~50% of women [and men] can’t look at themselves in the mirror. We all know social media usage is associated with lower self-confidence levels, particularly impacting younger women. My workshops, which all incorporate mirror work, address these crises facing modern professional women.
“BUZI” means “kiss” in Polish because core to my method is the ability to see the beauty already within you. I want everyone to leave my workshop feeling more comfortable in their own skin. I also believe that natural products and methods show respect for your body, and represent true self-love. My products and methods are a “kiss” for yourself. In addition, I chose a European name for my business because Europe is miles ahead of the US when it comes to natural beauty. I’ve done all my training in European techniques, and source all of my products from Europe, because I know they have higher product quality (and regulation). Last, my brand colors represent a connection to nature and to the earth, and to my Grandmother’s farm in Poland —- to inspire a bit of grounding in the fast-paced nature of modern life.
